A link in layman language is just like how many people recognize you or linked with you within your society or globally. When we talk about a website, here a link means how many websites linked with your website. Proper link exchange can be an important factor in getting good search engine rankings and known as an off-page search engine optimization technique. You can link your website with other websites by placing a hyperlink (an anchor text) within their website or by placing the hyperlinks of others website in your website.

Quantity Link: Quantity links are these links which you can get easily through the free directories, irrelevant websites and free link directories. Quantity links are not that much beneficial as quality links.

Following are some major things to keep in mind while exchanging links:

1. The websites with you exchanges links should be highly relevant to your website.

2. Website should be having unique as well as good content which is relevant too.

3. Website shouldn’t be having more than 20 links in that particular page on which your link will be shown.

4. The link page should be indexed in Google and other major search engines as well.

5. The link page should be cached in Google and other major search engines.

6. The hyperlink should directly go to your website in spite of through any other redirection method.

7. Your anchor text should be little bit descriptive in spite of using only single keyword.

8. Your hypertext or anchor text (link’s title) should be meaning full and should give a proper knowledge about your website or service.

9. Your link title should be followed by a meaningful and supportive description.

10. Try to avoid linking through software it would be better if done manually.

Always try to get quality links instead of quantity links, if your website’s link is placed in a good quality website that gives your website more importance. As far as search engine ranking is concern the off-page search engine optimization is most important boosting factor for your website.

So go for quality links to make your website more popular as well as visible!
